Figuring out how to modify WordPress

I have been fighting to get into WordPress since last week and finally I am in. I am playing around with the templates and trying to modify them with my own images, which i think I have been ok at.

There is a learning curve here and I can tell I will need to do some reading to figure out how the PHP (of which i know just a smattering of) and the CSS (know that pretty well) work together with this site.

Overall though, I like this interface a whole lot better than blogger, which I thought was pretty limited. (I ported over the old posts from there).
